(AGI) - Modena, Jun 7 - Milan star player Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leita, Kaka', yesterday in Modena underwent refractive surgery to correct a slight case of myopia and astigmatism.

The surgery was conducted in Modena in a private structure which is specialised in these kinds of operations and uses laser machines. Kaka' suffered from myopia and astigmatism and thus had to wear contact lenses even in football fields, but he could not see very well.

He was operated by specialist doctor Angelo Appiotti, who has offices in several cities in Italy and has treated, since 1994, about 20,000 patients, including people in the sports and entertainment business.

This morning doctor Appiotti visited Kaka' again, and found him in great conditions: "He has recovered ten tenths in 12 hours," said the surgeon, who explained that he used a special technique that gives exceptional results.

The patient was described as "motivated and cooperating" and when he opened his eyes he was surprised because he could already see very well. The footballer was accompanied by his wife and Milan medic Dr. Sala.

Dr. Appiotti, who specialised in Rome, Russia and several American hospitals, will visit Kaka' again next week.
