How do you gauge if a patient is suitable for laser surgery?

The evaluation of suitability for excimer laser surgery includes, during a pre-surgical examination, a number of non-invasive tests (topography, pachymetry, pupillometry, contrast sensitivity, endothelial microscopy, ecobiometry, corneal tomography) besides an in-depth study of the eye’s anatomical conditions.
The tests however are not sufficient to establish suitability to surgery, and only the doctor’s experience and the quality of the lasers used, may determine the strategy and the best results. |
