 Golf and visual defects
| Those who are not familiar with golf may think of it as a sport which is not so demanding in the physical sense. In reality golf is a sport that demands a lot of physical and mental work, and golf professionals have to take care of their physical preparation, and necessarily their mental concentration which is indispensable in optimizing their own abilities throughout the 18 holes of the competition. To achieve the best performance, physical and mental training together with perfect physical and visual conditions of the athlete are absolutely necessary. Besides muscular and mental fitness an adequate visual training is also necessary and must be backed up with perfect vision. |

To play golf, one needs to have an excellent visual perception since an erroneous estimation or wrong interpretation of the sloping of a green is a problem that may jeopardize a golfer’s performance. Most often the incorrect perception of the profundity or wrong localization of a hole creates a wrong action with consequential bad competition scores.
Often our eyes make an object appear nearer or farther away than it really is, and all the athlete’s training may be ruined by problems linked to the athlete’s sight. |

The problems mentioned above arise from a refractive defect that penalizes peripheral vision and eye-hand coordination. Even if the refractive defect is corrected with contact lenses or eyeglasses, the correction is never total and the visual field is always limited due to the physical confines of these corrective instruments.
Thanks to TLCT all golf players have improved the precision of their best shots also due to a more correct “visual reading” of the distances and obstacles often flattened out by visual defects that are not corrected and which alter reality.
The Two Laser Combined Technique moreover optimizes peripheral vision which is important in maintaining posture equilibrium and eye-hand coordination. |
